It's been just under a month since Andy Burnham became the sixth UK Prime Minister in 10 years. Since then, policy announcements have been fairly light, but impactful when they have arrived. 

Significant changes to the education system, energy prices and most relevantly, homelessness prevention, have been announced, but questions remain over numerous issues far too long to list here. These are expected in a 10-year plan later in the year, which will no doubt also include more details on the long term plan to end rough sleeping in the country. 

One area, however, where the revamped government has stuck its head above the parapet is mental health.

The government has announced an expansion of mental health services across England, with new walk-in community mental health centres planned for high streets, libraries, banks and other local spaces. The £343 million investment is being described - by the government - as “the biggest redesign of mental health services in a generation”.
